Tips to get your customer-business ecosystem in order before the GDPR comes into effect:

Clear the data chaos and synchronize all your customer data and acquisition data into personal customer profiles. Do this in a marketing cloud or data management platform in a secure data center. My requirements:

No data migration but data synchronization in a central hub
Open software architecture with APIs
Make sure that all inbound and outbound channels can 'talk to each other' in a secure manner. In other words: choose modern standard solutions that are constantly renewing themselves. Do not choose custom work from (expensive) ICT suppliers that will 'trap' you in closed systems.
Provide links with identity providers, so that your customers can log in with their self-chosen profile. Make a top 5 of what you like to work with and communicate that.
Don't fall into the CRM trap.
