Connectivity: in the Top 3 in the EU

According to the European Commission's DESI 2022 , Spain is one of the leading countries in terms of connectivity, holding third place for the second consecutive year.
Furthermore, Spain is among the top four OECD countries with the phone number list highest proportion of fiber optic accesses relative to total fixed broadband accesses, according to the report "The Information Society in Spain 2022" by Fundación Telefónica. In mid-2021, 76.2% of fixed broadband accesses in our country were fiber optic, up 6.5 percentage points from the previous year. Spain is only surpassed in this indicator by South Korea (85.9%), Japan (82.5%), and Lithuania (77.2%).
Internet usage: 96% of households connected to the Internet
According to DESI 2022, 96% of Spanish households are connected to the Internet, placing it among the leading countries in the EU, behind only Luxembourg and the Netherlands (99%), Ireland and Finland (97%), and Denmark (also 96%).
Furthermore, the CNMC Household Panel for the last quarter of 2021 shows that nine out of ten Spaniards used the internet in the last three months, and 77.5% of them frequently. Ninety percent of Spaniards own a smartphone, which we use several times a day to check online messages (83.8%), access social media (47%), check emails (39.8%), play online games (19.2%), watch videos (25.8%), or use location services (7%).
