The Value of Phone Number Data in Marketing

We got some great media coverage, even being named to Internet Retailer's "Hot 100" retailer (a big deal at the time). The media coverage was great but also fleeting.

We would get media coverage, see some customers come in and then two weeks later, traffic would drop off and we would have to get media coverage again. It was tough and it meant our sales were out of our control.

So, we took a deep breath and looked at what was driving our sales. Most businesses don’t do this. They have a pipeline, a budget, and sales. And, they don’t bother to understand where their best customers are coming from. We were no different.

We know we get some sales from SEO. We know we get some algeria phone number list referral traffic. We also know we get some affiliates to promote us. However, we don’t know how much each affiliate contributes to our sales each day, week, and month.

What’s more difficult is that we can’t predict how much revenue we’re going to make in a day, a week, or a month. This starts to create challenges in our purchasing. We don’t know how much wine we have to commit to our suppliers. Sometimes we only sell 5 cases and sometimes we sell 50 cases.

So, we chose one channel to dive deeper into and that channel was email marketing for e-commerce. We knew that email campaigns would be good for us. We knew that email campaigns could be very profitable and successful. And, as I said before, our goal was to tell the story of the people behind the wine and we thought email was the best way to do that.

We know that our e-commerce email marketing efforts help us build relationships with our customers. However, it is difficult to measure the financial value of our email marketing efforts.
