How does affiliate marketing work?
Affiliate marketing is based on several important pillars that allow for effective tracking and accounting of affiliate activities. A key element of this model is tracking, or monitoring user activities usa telegram accounts from the moment they click on an affiliate link to making a purchase.
What is an affiliate link? Each affiliate receives a unique link or identifier that is used to track traffic generated by their activities. These links are specially constructed to contain information that identifies the affiliate (they can, for example, share the link on their social media profiles).
A key part of the whole affiliate marketing puzzle is conversion attribution, or assigning sales to the right partner. Tracking systems use cookies and other technologies (e.g. tracking pixels) to monitor a customer’s purchase journey.
When a user clicks on an affiliate link, a cookie is saved in their browser. The cookie stores information about the click, such as the affiliate ID and the time of visit. This way, even if the user makes a purchase later, the system can assign the commission to the correct affiliate.
After the transaction is completed, the sales system will usually generate reports containing details of each sale, including the affiliate who contributed to the purchase. Based on these reports, the company calculates the commissions due and pays them to the partners. In addition to affiliation based on unique links, sometimes solutions based on promotional codes are also used. The company generates a unique discount code for the given partner and then pays a commission on each purchase made using it.
