The origin of Jet
The communication team works with a concise annual plan. On the one hand because of limited resources and on the other hand because of rapid changes, which makes it impossible to plan years ahead. The annual plan describes themes that will be addressed that year.
Before 2015, internal communication was an important theme. Due to mergers in the past and a major reorganization following cutbacks in healthcare, an 'island culture' had emerged. Each organizational unit had its own methods and practices.
There was therefore a need for connection to bring hospital ceo email list people and information together. The outflow of skilled employees with a lot of knowledge was also a problem. A social intranet offers the possibility to retain that knowledge and to connect employees with each other. Jet is the only internal communication tool within Thebe and therefore also the backbone of internal communication.
Jet's illustration wasn't created based on a strategy or persona, it was really a lucky shot.
The naming and Intranet Jet with tabletpersonalization of the intranet
Before the intranet went live in October 2015, a name election was held on the old intranet among all employees. The winning name was Jet, which stands for 'You and Thebe'. Paul and Irma wanted to have that name illustrated. The starting point was that Jet should not be too old (25 to 35 years old), not too thin or too fat and above all very sympathetic. The fear that the illustration of Jet would be experienced as childish turned out to be unfounded: Jet was an immediate hit. Employees immediately identified with Jet. The name recognition of the intranet was incredibly high from day one and this is mainly due to the personification of Jet.
