Google may include structured markup as one of the ranking factors

Google reveals that it may decide to use structured data in its PageRank algorithm, although it previously officially denied this.

Structured markup, or Rich Snippets , or additional informational snippets about web pages, have always helped search engines “understand” the content of a web page and potentially lead to increased searches and hits.

During one of the Google Hangouts, John Mueller said that “ structured markup can affect ranking .”

" I think that in the long run, using structural markup can make sense. However, I cannot guarantee that using the right markup will automatically push a page to the top positions. We try to distinguish between pages that are technically well-made and those that have really valuable content.

A site is not good for users just because it is technically wrong ."

Whether structured markup acts as a ranking factor or not, it is worth adding it to your page.
We have known for a long time that describing elements on a page using rich fragments and Schema.org markup is well-received by the lordly Google search engine, helping it to understand even better what it is dealing with and what the contact and address data are that are so important to us. Not only does the search engine understand what is going on on the page, but it also gives the possibility to show certain elements of our page in its search results, which has a positive effect on the clickability of such results.
