ANDouTube has been on a personal crusade against adblockers for some time now . While last April the platform reported that those using this technology could have problems viewing videos , it has now opted for a new strategy: integrating ads directly into videos to bypass blockers .
This news was released by SponsorBlock, a free platform for blocking sponsored segments in YouTube videos, through a post on X. In it, it explains that YouTube is experimenting with “server-side ad injection .” This means that the ads are incorporated into the main video file itself, causing adblockers to be unable to distinguish and block them.
However, SponsorBlock has explained that this does not necessarily mean the end of ad-blocking platforms , as there would still be certain ways to detect advertising. For example, if YouTube displays venezuela number data some user interface, such as a clickable link, this could be the duration of the ad. So the adblocker can interpret this information and perform its function.
There is also the option to click on a timestamp in a comment, although this would require knowing the duration of the ad and could be more complex.
YouTube wants to protect its advertising revenue
This new platform feature has not yet been implemented globally, but is still in an early adoption phase. YouTube's goal is to shield advertising, which is one of its major sources of income , and which also provides an economic contribution to many creators who publish their content on the social video network.
Likewise, the platform would also be moving forward to leave a single option for those users who do not wish to view ads: subscribe to YouTube Premium .
