Every year we had a user survey done among our community with Ruigrok | Netpanel . From that we got qualitative and quantitative information that helped a lot to gain insight into the community and the Dutch audience. These members were our fans, and their input was mainly positive. After reading the book, we realized that we had lost sight of the other users a bit.

In a room next door we could watch and listen. We learned more that afternoon than in all those years of talking to experts.
Lean Startup principles
The Lean Startup principles were then radically implemented in the organization. We started steering from validated learning , agile working and we invited users much earlier to test whether developments were on the right track and whether our assumptions were correct. We now measure success by the speed with which we adapt products to this feedback.
