On July 22, a conference was held at the Rambler&Co office"Blogger's Day in Russia". Despite the festive name, it was dedicated to changes that most Internet users assessed negatively. At the conference, bloggers, journalists, representatives of social media and officials from Roskomnadzor were to discuss the specifics of the law equating blogs with mass media.
The organizers promised to tell the guests about the trends of the blogosphere, but they still couldn’t come to a consensus on how to call its participants: “bloggers” or “bloggers.” The website dedicated to the new law is called “I am a blogger.rf,” the conference is called “Blogger Day in Russia,” and the badges of the event participants said “I am a blogger.”
The event website stated that one of the goals of the Blogger's Day was to "Communicate any benefits of registering bloggers (if any)." The conference was also supposed to tell users about "what rights and obligations bloggers have in connection with the new law." Judging by the speeches of the participants, the only advantage of registration is the somewhat dubious "protection from clones." As for rights, according to Maxim Ksenzov, Deputy Head of Roskomnadzor, they are not provided for by the law on bloggers. Therefore, he tried to tell those gathered about the obligations imposed on them.
