Will Marketing Automation Replace Humans?

Post by mmehedi*# »

According to Deloitte Analytics consultant Tom Davenport: "If you think about which profession will be most quickly replaced by automated systems, I would say marketers." This sounds quite ironic, given that this profession has remained a bastion of creativity for centuries, and therefore the least vulnerable craft in terms of threats from robotization and the currently fashionable "uberization."

And yet, it is worth listening to this opinion. Of course, through the prism of my own observations. So, Tom's arguments:

1. There is such a variety of marketing tools that their proper use should significantly reduce the marketing department of any rational organization.
My comment: I agree 100%. Today, marketing (including content marketing) is one of the most "fertile" areas for startups. And all acquisitions of large software corporations in recent years benin whatsapp resource are somehow related to marketing.
2. Marketing, thanks to digital technologies, is becoming measurable, targeted, personalized and directly tied to business results.

I comment: it is becoming, but not everywhere. And this is not only about Russian businesses. My conversations with Western colleagues often go in this direction: "Oh, how we would like to see at least 2-3 layers of the marketing funnel."

3. According to the Garnter review, about 25% of the average marketing budget is spent on promotion in digital channels. And 79% of marketing organizations invest in software and hardware in one way or another.
